How to refill the 17 Lexmark black ink cartridge

Try looking for a no too big drill so the hole is not too big either avoiding ink evaporation.
Make this hole really slowly to prevent damages in the cartridge sponge the hole has to be done just where it is indicated with a small hole it has from factory. see the following image...

Proceed to provide the corresponding black ink to the cartridge, to do so you will need one syringe
In the syringe you will need about 10ml of ink and with this amount of ink the cartridge will have a good rate and perform well when printing. The same syringe must not be used for all the colors.

Always provide ink to the cartridges as S-L-O-W as possible, this case cannot be the exception, you have to do this process really slowly and with calm take all the time you can in this step, we advise the slowness so the sponge can be completely full.
